Marauders Drop Friday Game to Threshers

July 18, 2014

Bradenton, FL - The Marauders (51-44, 16-10) fell 7-2 to the Clearwater Threshers (28-67, 11-16) on Friday night at McKechnie Field. The Threshers scored seven straight runs to erase a 1-0 deficit, and fended off a Bradenton comeback attempt in the seventh.

The Marauders took advantage of a Threshers error in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Barrett Barnes singled to right field with two outs against Miguel Nunez (W, 3-7). Jose Osuna grounded to third base where rehabbing Major League Reid Brignac booted the ball for an error, allowed Jordan Steranka the chance to line a run-scoring single to left field.

Shane Carle (L, 1-1) pitched into the seventh, but was chased with one out. Art Charles open the Clearwater scoring with a game-tying solo home run in the third. Freddy Galvis capped the scoring with a two-run blast in the seventh.

Bradenton loaded the bases with nobody out in the seventh against Lino Martinez. Max Moroff drew his third walk of the game to bring home the second Marauders run of the night. Cody Forsythe entered and retired the next three Marauders batters. Forsythe struck out the side in the eighth, and Lee Ridenhour recorded the final three outs of the night.

The Marauders will try to salvage a series split on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
