MEMPHIS, TN – The Memphis Redbirds dropped game four of a six-game series with the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp at AutoZone Park on Friday night by a final score of 6-4.

Memphis fell behind early yet again, with the team finding itself down 6-0 after the top half of the third inning. The Redbirds would immediately answer back in the bottom of the third.

After center fielder Ben DeLuzio singled, left fielder Scott Hurst lined a ball into right field. Jacksonville right fielder Jerar Encarnacion tossed the ball into third, but third baseman Willians Astudillo mishandled the throw to allow DeLuzio to score.

Memphis then exploded for three runs in the bottom of the fifth to pull within two. A one-out Evan Mendoza double followed by a two-out DeLuzio triple plated the first run. One batter later, Hurst belted his second home run of the season into the right-center field Jacksonville bullpen to make the score 6-4. Each team would go scoreless in the final four innings of play.

In relief of starting pitcher Connor Thomas, Angel Rondon did not allow a hit over five innings of work, striking out four Jumbo Shrimp and walking two. Thomas (4-3) was credited with the loss.

The Memphis Redbirds (42-34) return to AutoZone Park for game five of a six-game series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (41-35) for a 7:05 p.m. CDT first pitch on Saturday, July 2.
