Momentum Bank Ballpark

Jonah Bride and Jhonny Santos led the offense and Montana DuRapau slammed the door with an “old school” save as the RockHounds defeated the Tulsa Drillers, 5-3, Thursday night at Momentum Bank Ballpark.

Bride (see “Kibbles & Bits,” below) reached base in each of his five trips to the plate, going 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs, an RBI, and two walks.

Santos went 3-for-4, scoring one run and driving in another.

After Tulsa manufactured a run in the top of the first (two walks and a sacrifice fly) Max Schuemann led off the home half of the inning with a double and scored on Devin’ Foyle’s ground out (his team-leading 60th RBI of the season).

Ryan Noda’s leadoff double in the third helped Tulsa take a 2-1 lead and Devin Mann ripped a line drive solo home run over the left field wall on the first pitch of the fourth inning as the Drillers pushed the advantage to 3-1.

Bride led off the RockHounds’ fourth inning with a triple to left-center and Santos brought him home with an RBI single one out later.

Infield singles from Santos and Mikey White (aided by the first of two costly Tulsa errors) and Kyle McCann’s RBI ground out tied the game in the sixth. Bride drew a bases-empty, two-out walk in the seventh and Logan Davidson lined a single up the middle. Santos then reached on an infield single, again compounded by a Tulsa error, with the go-ahead run scoring on the play.

Bride capped the scoring … and his perfect night at the dish … with a bases-loaded slow roller that brought home an insurance run.

DuRapau was perfect in the eighth and ninth, earning his eighth save. The Drillers had not gone 1-2-3 since the first inning Wednesday … a span of 15 innings … but DuRapau did it twice, facing and retiring six batters to seal the deal.

Kibbles & Bits

Jonah Bride has reached base in 14-of-his-last-15 games. He’s hitting a solid .292 in that span with an outstanding .477 on-base percentage.

With his 5-for-5 night reaching base Thursday, Jonah took over the Double-A Central lead for the season with a .409 OBP.
