66ers Can't Storm Back, Fall to Lake Elsinore

San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers (52-63, 21-24) fell to the Lake Elsinore Storm (60-55, 24-21) by a 6-3 final, failing to overcome a six run deficit after six innings. 66ers second baseman Taylor Lindsey had the most productive day for an otherwise quiet Inland Empire offense as he went 2-for-5 with an RBI.
66ers right fielder Drew Heid extended his hitting streak to ten games on an RBI single in the 7th inning to give the 66ers its first run of the game. Heid also scored on Lindsey's RBI single in the next at-bat. Heid now has 25 RBIs on the year. 66ers center fielder Randal Grichuk continued his hitting ways with a triple in the 8th inning to score on left fielder Ryan Jones's RBI sacrifice fly.
66ers starter Danny Reynolds was roughed up in his second start of the year as he went 5 innings, giving up six earned runs, striking out three and walking one. Reynolds took the loss to fall to 0-1 on the season. 66ers reliever Manuel Flores pitched two innings help keep the Storm off of the board. Storm starter Matt Branham pitched 6 shutout innings and struck out eight to earn the win to improve to 5-2 on the year. Storm closer Kevin Quackenbush earned his 23rd save of the year with a shutout 9th.
The 66ers conclude their series with the Lake Elsinore Storm tomorrow at 7:05 pm. It will be Thirsty Thursday as sodas and domestic beers will be one dollar.
