A Statement From the BlueClaws

November 6, 2012
All of us here in Lakewood would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to all those affected by the hurricane. The devastation is unimaginable and we, like all of you, are deeply saddened by the condition of our home, the Jersey Shore.

We wanted to take this opportunity to fill you in on what we're doing and how we can help.

1. After ensuring the safety of our respective families, we are taking care of our extended family, each other. Our staff's homes represent many of the Shore towns that were hit hardest by Sandy and we are doing all we can to help our colleagues dig out of the aftermath. For those of you that know us personally and have extended your thoughts, well wishes, and help, we thank you again.

2. We have forged amazing relationships with Community Partners and we are reaching out to those groups next. Our philanthropic community partners are doing tremendous work in our region and we will be connecting with them to lend a hand however we can. For a list of organizations, please click here.

3. Our fans have shown incredible patronage to us over the last 12 years and as a Jersey Shore destination, we stand by you. We will do our best to help you.

4. Our parking lot has been transformed into a staging area for out of town help and to those that made that possible (and those from out of town helping!), we thank you! Utility companies from all over the country are calling the parking lot at FirstEnergy Park home for now and we are grateful.

As Thayer said, though Casey may have struck out...

"Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright,
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,
And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout.

Please trust that come April, baseball will return to the Jersey Shore. But before then, so much needs restoration and we are committed to the cause. Our front office has been out in the streets since the day after the storm just lending our efforts as individuals, as a group, or any way we can.

We are proud that BlueClaws Baseball has put smiles on so many faces over the past 12 years and we will work hard to do so again for an area that needs it now more than ever. Upon ensuring the safety and assistance that our extended family, fans, and community need, we promise to once again provide this fun, family experience to the best fans in Minor League Baseball.
