Adam Miller Throws 5 Innings in 2008 Debut

Bisons' fans had to wait an extra three weeks for the 2008 debut of Adam Miller. On Wednesday, Miller had to wait an extra hour and 15 minutes to get on the mound for the first time this year because of a rain delay. Thanks to Scranton/WB's Brett Gardner, Miller will now have to wait a little longer for that first win of the season.

Gardner blasted a walk-off homerun with one gone in the ninth inning to give the Yankees a 6-5 victory over the Bisons from PNC Field. The loss is the Bisons second last at-bat defeat in just three days.

The Herd also fell to Pawtucket, 6-5, in 10 innings on Monday afternoon.

Seeing his first action of the season, Miller looked completely healthy on the mound for Buffalo as he tossed five solid innings. The Indians #1 prospect began the year on the disabled list as he continued to work up a pitch count in extended spring training. On Wednesday, he was able to throw 84 pitches and allowed just three unearned runs while striking out two batters.

Miller was lined up for the victory as the Bisons took a 4-3 lead into the seventh inning. That's when the Yankees got their first homerun of the night. Shelley Duncan belted a two-run blast off reliever Bubbie Buzachero to give Scranton/WB the lead.

Buffalo fought back in the top of the eighth to tie the game at five. The red-hot Aaron Herr tripled with one gone in the frame and came around to score on Jason Cooper's sacrifice fly. But in the bottom of the ninth, Gardner would win the game for the Yanks.

Herr finished the game 2-4 with a pair of runs scored. He singled in the second inning and scored on Brad Snyder's two-run triple. Ryan Mulhern followed with an RBI-double to give the Bisons a 3-1 lead after two.

In the third, Jason Cooper added an RBI-double. Scranton/WB closed to within 4-3 on Juan Miranda's two-run double off Miller in the fifth.

The loss for Buffalo goes to Reid Santos (1-2). The southpaw struck out the side 1-2-3 in the eighth inning but gave up Gardner's walk-off homerun.BISONS NOTES: Aaron Herr has now hit in 10 of his last 11 games. He's been swinging the hottest bat among the Bisons with a .381 (16-42) average in those 11 games... Buffalo batters struck out 12 times in the game, including nine times to Yankees' starter Kei Igawa.
