All-Star Derby to feature two Sens

Marrero, Martinez to swing for host team at midseason classic

Home Run Derby at the Eastern League All-Star Game will feature a pair of hometown favorites.

Chris Marrero and Michael Martinez of the host Harrisburg Senators are among the eight participants named for the event, scheduled for Wednesday at Metro Bank Park.

Marrero is hitting .291 with 12 homers and 47 RBIs in 87 games, while Martinez is batting .264 with seven homers and 30 RBIs in 80 contests.

They are joined on the Western Division team by Altoona Curve catcher Hector Gimenez (.311, 12, 49) and Richmond Flying Squirrels outfielder Thomas Neal (.284, 8, 45), who hit a team-record three homers on June 26 at Erie.

The Eastern Division squad is comprised of Reading Phillies teammates Matt Rizzotti (.362, 11, 44) and Tagg Bozied (.295, 13, 55), Binghamton Mets outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis (.302, 13, 50) and New Hampshire Fisher Cats outfielder Eric Thames (.278, 14, 63).

Home Run Derby will begin at 5 p.m. ET. Each player gets seven outs in the first round, with the top four advancing. In the semifinals and finals, the participants receive 10 outs.
