Righty becomes second Hawk to win weekly award
May 10, 2010
South Bend, IN - South Bend Silver Hawks pitcher Chase Anderson has been named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week as announced today by Minor League Baseball. Anderson becomes the second straight Silver Hawks player to win a weekly award, joining Bobby Borchering who won Hitter of the Week last Monday.

The award covers the period from Monday, May 3rd through Sunday, May 9th. In game one of Saturday's doubleheader, Anderson threw a seven inning complete game shutout against the Dayton Dragons. He struck out a team-high eight batters and allowed just four hits.

Anderson, the Diamondbacks ninth round selection in 2009 from the University of Oklahoma, is now 2-3 with a 2.51 ERA this season. Despite the three losses, he has not allowed more than three earned runs in any of his six starts.

Jerry Sands of Great Lakes was the Hitter of the Week, his third award out of four weeks.

The Silver Hawks take on the Great Lakes Loons tonight at 6:30 PM Eastern Time on a Dollar Monday presented by U93 and Pepsi. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.silverhawks.com or call (574) 235-9988.
