Andy Pettitte In Trenton Wednesday

April 21, 2012
(TRENTON, NJ) As announced by NY Yankees Manager Joe Girardi prior to today's Yankees vs. Red Sox game, LHP Andy Pettitte is scheduled to pitch for Trenton on Wednesday, April 25 at 7:05 PM at Waterfront Park as the Thunder face the Erie SeaWolves (Detroit Tigers).

Pettitte, 39, last played in the Major Leagues in 2010, when he went 11-3 and was an All-Star. He has 240-138 lifetime record with the Yankees and Houston Astros. Pettitte ended a one-season retirement by agreeing to a minor league contract on March 16.

Pettitte last pitched for the Thunder on a rehab assignment in the 2010 Eastern League playoffs against New Hampshire (Game 2 of ELDS) and Altoona (Game 1 of ELCS at Altoona). Because Pettitte is coming out of retirement on a Minor League contract, he is technically a minor league player and not considered a Major League Rehabilitation Assignment (rehab). Pettitte will count against Trenton's 25 man active roster.

Pettitte is a member of what is known in New York as "The Core Four" - a moniker given to Pettitte, Mariano Rivera, Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada, who were with the Yankees for each of the team's five World Series Championships since 1996.
