EVERETT, Wash. - The roster for the 2011 Everett AquaSox, who will try to bring the Frogs their first back-to-back Northwest League championships, is now released.

Returning from the 2010 NWL Champion AquaSox are catcher Billy Marcoe, who had nine hits in 22 games for the Frogs last season while behind all-star catcher Steve Baron, and Bennett Whitmore, a relief pitcher who made six appearances and had five strikeouts in more than seven innings of work.

Right-handed pitcher Jason Buursma, originally from Seattle, Wash. and Lakeside School, will be joining the AquaSox after pitching for AAA Memphis Redbirds earlier in the 2011 season. Buursma had a 3.78 ERA in more than 16 innings of work for the Redbirds with 5 strikeouts before he was released by the St. Louis Cardinals organization on May 25 and signed by the Mariners earlier this June.

Other notable players with minor league experience joining the Frogs are infielder Marcus Littlewood who had 15 hits in 27 games for the Clinton Lumberkings earlier in 2011 and left-handed pitcher Tony Butler who last played for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

Left-handed pitcher Cameron Hobson from the University of Dayton, who was taken in the eleventh round (#333 overall), is the highest Mariners 2011 draft pick featured on the AquaSox roster. The highest draft pick in Dayton history, Hobson finished his career with the Flyers as the career leader in strikeouts at the school with 256 in three years. Other 2011 draft picks on the AquaSox roster include 14th round pick Cody Weiss from La Salle University (#423 overall) and 21st round pick Joseph DiRocco from Seton Hall University (#633 overall).

The AquaSox opening home stand will run from June 22-27. It will feature two different post-game fireworks shows, a Mariners throwback jersey auction presented by the Seattle Mariners, and much more!

The AquaSox will begin the 2011 season June 17 on the road versus Tri-City. The home opener is set for Wednesday, June 22 at Everett Memorial Stadium against Vancouver.
