Archie Gilbert Homers in 4-1 Loss to Portland

August 30, 2011
Harrisburg, PA - The Portland Sea Dogs shut down the Senators offense for a second straight night with a 4-1 win at Metro Bank Park. The loss is the Sens fifth straight at Metro Bank Park and their second straight since winning seven consecutive games on the road.

Oliver Perez took the loss for the Senators, giving up a three-run home run to Reynaldo Rodriguez in the first inning. Charlie Haeger started for Portland and pitched eight innings, allowing just two hits, an infield single to Chris Rahl and Archie Gilbert's 12th home run on the season.

Harrisburg had two real chances to score, they loaded the bases in the first inning with one out but didn't score. They also had two runners in scoring position in the fifth inning, but left them stranded.

Bowie and Richmond both lost on Tuesday night so the Senators magic number to clinch the division and make the playoffs is now at two meaning that if the Senators win on Wednesday night and either Richmond or Bowie loses, the Senators clinch a playoff spot. If the Senators win and both Richmond and Bowie lose, they clinch the Western Division regular season championship.

Game three of the series is at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday night with RH Erik Arnesen on the mound for Harrisburg against RH Brock Huntzinger for Portland. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 6:45 p.m.
