Auction of Timber Rattlers jerseys raises nearly $5,000 for charity

August 29, 2011
GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers wore their Sunday home jerseys for the final time on August 28. The live auction after Sunday's 11-1 win over the Cedar Rapids Kernels provided a win for Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. The total amount raised from the auction was $4,819.

The special jerseys were based on those worn by the Milwaukee Brewers in 1975. The Brewers are the current parent club of the Timber Rattlers. Timber Rattlers players wore the jerseys during every Sunday home game of the 2011 season.

Current Milwaukee Brewer Carlos Gomez brought in the highest bid of the auction. Gomez, who is on a rehab assignment with the Rattlers, had his jersey go for $475. Gomez is scheduled to play on Monday and Tuesday night for the Rattlers as they host the final two games of the series with the Kernels.

Other jerseys to draw top bids included a team signed jersey ($375), manager Matt Erickson ($300), pitcher Jimmy Nelson ($300), and mascot Fang T. Rattler ($275).

Both of the games remaining on the Timber Rattlers homestand begin at 7:05pm and feature Bang for Your Buck Nights with soda, hotdogs, and beer available for $1.
