Mike Kickham, Dylan Lee and Jose Quijada combined on a four-hit shutout as the New Orleans Baby Cakes blanked the Oklahoma City Dodgers, 3-0 on Saturday night.
Kickham (5-5) held the Dodgers to two hits in five innings, Lee gave up one hit in three innings of relief, and Quijada worked around a leadoff single in the bottom of the ninth to convert his fourth save.
Oklahoma City had just one at-bat with runners in scoring position after the opening frame.
New Orleans was held scoreless by Mitchell White for three innings, but struck against reliever Rob Zastryzny with two-out rally in the fourth, when Eddy Alvarez doubled and scored on a single up the middle by Rosell Herrera. The 'Cakes tacked on a pair of runs in the sixth, capitalizing on a Dodgers error before Alvarez singled in a run.
Monte Harrison and Alvarez had two hits apiece as the Baby Cakes improved to 39-29 on the road and handed the Dodgers their 13th loss in the last 16 games. New Orleans needs to win just one of the final two games to match its highest win total since 2007.
The season's penultimate game is Sunday at 2:05 p.m.
