BANDITS STUMBLE IN ST. LOUIS

St. Louis, MO. - The River Bandits rally fell short under the bright lights of Busch Stadium. Kane County held on for a 3-2 win over the Bandits. The Bandits threatened in the ninth inning, loading the bases with two outs, but scored only one run. Jonathan Rodriguez scored on an error by pitcher Chase Boruff (1). Starlin Rodriguez hit a slow grounder, and Boruff couldn't handle the ball, allowing the Bandits to bring the game within one run.

The Bandits trailed 1-0 early when the Cougars scored one in the fourth inning, before scoring two more runs in the sixth inning to take a 3-0 lead. The Bandits scored one run in the eighth inning on an RBI from Nick Longmire (0-4, RBI) before scoring its final run in the ninth.

Bandit starter Carlos Martinez (1-2) went five innings allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out five. Martinez walked only one in the game. Angel DeJesus came in to relieve Martinez in the sixth and went two innings allowing two runs on three hits while walking one. Aiden Lucas relieved DeJesus, and went one inning allowing just one hit while striking out two. Justin Wright came into the game in the eighth and went one scoreless innings striking out two.

Offensively, the Bandits scored just one run and collected just six hits. Cody Stanley went 2-for-3 in the game with a pair of singles. Catcher Robert Stock went 2-for-3 in the game with a double. Starlin Rodriguez came into the game in the eighth and went 1-for-1 with a single. Greg Garcia went 1-for-4 in the game and had the Bandits final hit to lead off the ninth inning.

Martinez was opposed by Kane County starter Leonel Santiago (4-4). The right-hander went six scoreless innings allowing just three hits striking out five. Dusty Odenbach came into the game in the eighth inning and allowed one run on two hits.

The Bandits take to the road Friday when they travel to Burlington to take on the first place Bees. The Bandits will send Seth Blair (2-3, 4.85) to oppose Bees right-handed starter Jonathan Joseph (0-1, 8.31). First Pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at Community Field in Burlington, Iowa.
