Barons Top Lookouts 5-1 in Regions Park Finale

The Birmingham Barons closed out Regions Park in style, picking up a 5-1 victory in the season finale Monday afternoon in front of 3,088 fans.

The Barons broke a scoreless tie in the fifth on an RBI single by Eric Morrison. Andy Wilkins followed with a sacrifice fly to score Jose Martinez and later in the inning Mark Haddow walked with the bases loaded to force in Morrison as the Barons took a 3-0 lead.

The Barons would tack on two more runs an inning later on a throwing error by shortstop Rafael Ynoa and a bloop RBI single by Andy Wilkins, giving them a 5-0 lead.

Barons starter Nick McCully (2-4, 4.75) picked up the final win at Regions Park, allowing three hits and striking out five over 6.0 scoreless innings. Samford graduate and Birmingham native Michael Gunter recorded the final four outs to pick up his first save of the season.

With the win, the Barons finished the season with a record of 63-76 and 33-37 in the second half. With today's attendance, the Barons welcomed 7,186,159 fans through the gates at Regions Park over the last 25 years.
