MOBILE, Ala. (July 31, 2018) - After being silenced for the final 10 innings Monday, the Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, erupted for eight runs in the first three innings Tuesday night and defeated the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 9-6 at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Jo Adell had a multi-hit game in his Double-A debut, including a two-run homer off Max Duval (2-11) in the bottom of the third. He and Jahmai Jones both scored three runs in the first three innings.
Brennon Lund finished the game a triple away from the cycle. He hit a single in the first, a three-run homer in the second, and a double in the third. Lund matched his career-high with four hits and also stole his 21st base of the season, setting a new career-high.
The BayBears (52-54 overall, 15-23 second half) grabbed an early 8-1 lead, but Jacksonville (42-65, 14-25) scored the next five runs to cut the lead to just two. A late run of insurance in the eighth helped Matt Custred record a six-out save, his team-high eighth.
Jesus Castillo gave up one run on five hits in a three-inning start, his first outing back from the 7-day disabled list. Alex Klonowski (7-2) earned the win, pitching three innings of relief. After giving up a three-run homer to Rodrigo Vigil in the fourth, Klonowski retired the final eight batters he faced.
