BayBears come back to beat Generals 4-2 in extras

Mobile's Matt Davidson hit walk-off homer in the 10th inning

MOBILE, ALA. (SEPTEMBER 13, 2012) - The Mobile BayBears took a 2-1 series advantage after a 4-2 win over Jackson on Thursday night. In the 10th inning, Mobile's Matt Davidson delivered a 2-run walk-off homer to left. Mobile scored four-in-a-row to complete a comeback in game three.

Jackson jumped out to a 2-0 lead getting single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Chih-Hsien Chiang reached on an error in the fourth that scored Nate Tenbrink. In the fifth, Francisco Martinez brought in Jesus Sucre with an RBI single to left.

Mobile was held scoreless until the bottom of the eighth inning. With two runners on and two outs, Alfredo Marte reached on an error by Brad Miller. Chris Owings and Matt Davidson scored on the error that took an awkward hop.

In the 10th, Jonathan Arias walked Matt Mangini and then on the 10th pitch of the at-bat, Matt Davidson belted a tape measure 2-run walk-off homer.

Jackson starter Taijuan Walker left in the sixth inning with a blister on his right hand. Walker struck out nine in 5.1 innings, walking none and allowing just five hits. Mauricio Robles tossed 1.0 scoreless inning while Yoervis Medina allowed 2 unearned runs in 1.2 innings. Jonathan Arias (0-1) allowed the homer and took the loss.

Offensively Mike Zunino was 2-for-4 and Francisco Martinez was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The Generals are in a must-win situation on Friday night trailing 2-1 in the series. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. LHP Anthony Fernandez (1-0, 3.18) starts for Jackson against RHP Mike Bolsinger (1-0, 6.35) for Mobile. The Playoffs are presented by Chick-Fil-A.
