MOBILE, Ala. (August 10, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, had a pair of one-run leads in the first half of the game but fell 8-5 to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Saturday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
After falling behind by two early, Brandon Marsh plated two runs with a single in the fourth against Alex Phillips (1-1) to give Mobile a 5-4 lead. However, Pensacola (63-55 overall, 25-23 second half) responded with a three-run fifth and added another run in the sixth.
Oliver Ortega (0-2) gave up six runs on six hits in his second Double-A start. Luis Pena was a bright spot out of the bullpen, retiring nine consecutive batters to finish the game.
Jahmai Jones led the BayBears (43-73, 16-32) at the plate, matching his career-high with four hits. Jhoan Urena hit his eighth home run of the season in the second inning, and he is now tied for the team-lead. Mobile out-hit Pensacola 12-9.
The BayBears wrap up the five-game home series against Pensacola Sunday at 2:05 p.m. Right-handed pitcher Zack Kelly (2-5, 3.66 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Bailey Ober (0-0, -.-- ERA) for the Blue Wahoos.
