MOBILE, Ala. (July 28, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, fell 6-1 to the Mississippi Braves Sunday afternoon at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Greg Mahle (0-1) held the Braves (50-55 overall, 17-19 second half) hitless and faced the minimum for the first five innings. However, he allowed three runs, one earned, on three hits in the sixth and exited the game after 5 2/3 innings.
Connor Justus drove in the only run for Mobile (41-63, 14-22). He delivered an RBI double on a 12-pitch at-bat with two outs in the ninth
The BayBears collected hits in seven of the nine innings and out-hit the Braves 10-6. However, the team went just 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine runners stranded.
Kyle Muller (7-6) pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win for Mississippi.
The BayBears continue the five-game home series against Mississippi Monday at 6:35 p.m. Right-handed pitcher Andrew Wantz (0-2, 4.04 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against southpaw Tucker Davidson (5-6, 2.01 ERA) for the Braves.
