JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (August 26, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, took a brief lead in the fifth inning but fell 3-2 to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp Monday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
Trailing 1-0 through four innings, Roberto Baldoquin hit a game-tying double to right field. Bo Way scored the second run of the frame on a wild pitch to give Mobile a 2-1 lead.
However, Stone Garrett put Jacksonville (66-68 overall, 37-27 second half) back in front with a two-run double in the bottom of the frame. Daniel Castano (7-1) earned the win with six innings of relief, and Tommy Eveld tallied his 11th save with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
Greg Mahle (2-3) recorded a quality start, giving up three runs in six innings. The BayBears (pitching staff limited the damage, stranding nine runners and getting out of two bases-loaded jams.
