Be an Intern with the Drive During the 2013 Season

Background
The Greenville Drive is the South Atlantic League affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. At its award-winning ballpark, Fluor Field at the West End, the Drive has become an integral part of the Greenville Community and the economic renovation of the Downtown and Historic West End. The Drive has repeatedly set single season attendance records by offering affordable family entertainment and premier customer service. The Drive has also been recognized for excellence in marketing by winning the National Sports Forum's Overall Award of Excellence and voted by its peers as the South Atlantic League's Organization of the Year multiple times.

Internship Opportunities Available
The Greenville Drive provides a variety of exciting and meaningful unpaid internship opportunities for students looking to earn college credit and/or gain practical experience in business functions related to sports marketing. Drive internships offer excellent preparation and potential for full-time employment and are offered in a the following areas:

Community Relations, Marketing and Sponsor Services
• Support marketing team in preparing for key theme nights
• Work with community partners to plan and execute Drive related community events
• Assist sales and marketing teams in executing and reporting sponsor services
• Support sales and hospitality in planning and delivering suite services

Ticket Operations
• Assist with ticket sales - new orders, renewals, fulfillment and customer service - using email, web, phone, box office and in person contacts
• Help develop and maintain customer and prospect databases
• Assist with the planning and execution of key game promotions and programs
• Assist in delivery of customer hospitality events before and during games

Food & Beverage
• Support inventory receipt, distribution and controls
• Prepare concessions operations for games and events - inventory, staffing, equipment
• Help manage seasonal game-day staff
• Help prepare for and execute special ballpark hospitality events

Ballpark Operations
• Assist with maintenance of the Stadium
• Help prepare stadium for games and special events
• Ensure stadium is equipped to serve needs of team and fans
• Support Drive's overall commitment to affordable family entertainment and premier customer service Business and Office Administration
• Assist CFO with financial reporting and analysis
• Assist in GM with project administration
• Support day-to-day office administration
• Support day-to-day customer and community service operations

Merchandise Sales and Operations
• Support Drive Team Store inventory receipt and management
• Manage day-to- day retail sales activities
• Conduct off-site and in-game sales operations
• Create displays and assist with Store and Kiosk merchandise presentation

Entertainment
• Production (creative development and IT)
• In Game Entertainment (live entertainment and performing)

Grounds Crew
• Perform general baseball field maintenance; including, but not limited to, mound and home plate repair, painting, warning track maintenance, batting practice set-up/tear-down and tarp pulling
• Perform turf grass management; including, but not limited to, mowing, edging, sodding, aerating, spraying, topdressing, irrigation repairs, as well as assisting with fertilizer and pest control applications
• Perform equipment repair and maintenance
• Assist in maintaining surrounding grounds and plantings

Internships - Time Frames:
The Drive's internships are available throughout the year with terms which follow the school year:
Fall and Winter - September to December
Winter and Spring - January to April
Summer - May to August

Skills and Abilities Required:
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
• Flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload
• Self motivated, resourceful and independent thinker
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Knowledge of sports helpful but not essential
