Bees seek aid for intern, family

May 6, 2011
BURLINGTON, Iowa -- Burlington Bees grounds keeping intern, Cody Wells, and his family lost their home in the recent tornadoes that caused tremendous destruction in Alabama. The Bees are taking up a collection to try and help the Wells family rebuild their lives.

Fans who want to help are asked to donate cash only at this time, and can do so in two ways: by donating money at the souvenir shop inside Community Field, or by sending a check payable to the Cody Wells Family Benefit to the Bees Front Office at 2712 Mt. Pleasant Street, P.O. Box 824, Burlington, IA 52601.

"We are asking everyone who has called to offer donations of material if they would please reserve those for a later date," said Burlington Bees general manager, Chuck Brockett. "Thankfully no one in Cody's family was hurt. He's currently in Alabama visiting his family, and once we hear from him what they need, we'll open up our collection to include household items."

The Bees next home stand starts Friday, May 13 against the Cedar Rapids Kernels, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the Bees' 2011 are on sale now. To purchase season tickets, bonus books or single-game tickets, please give the Bees a call at (319) 754-5705, visit www.gobees.com online, or stop by the box office at Community Field during normal business hours.
