Bees Win in Albuquerque

August 8, 2011

The Bees built an early seven run lead and then had to hang on for an 11-8 win over the Albuquerque Isotopes on Sunday night. Salt Lake grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first and then extended it to 6-0 on a three run homer by Hank Conger in the second. After the Isotopes scored a run in the third, the Bees answered with two in the fourth on a two run single by Conger. Albuquerque came back with four runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth to pull to within two at 10-8, but Matt Meyer (1-1) stranded the tying runs in scoring position by getting Jerry Sands to fly out to center. Efren Navarro led off the seventh with his fifth homer of the season to close out the scoring.

Conger led the Bees with two hits and six runs batted in, while Reggie Willits reached base in all five of his plate appearances with three singles and two walks and he scored four times. Jeff Baisley added one hit and three RBI and Navarro chipped in one hit and two RBI.
