Bisons unveil new set of uniforms

January 18, 2013
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bisons will have an exciting new look when they begin a new era in Buffalo baseball on Opening Day, April 4, at Coca-Cola Field.

On Friday, the team unveiled its new home, road and alternate uniforms that combine performance technology from Russell Athletic with a design that honors both the team's past and its future. The new uniforms include a pair of new official on-field caps, produced by the New Era Cap Company.

"We couldn't be more anxious to see our team take the field on Opening Day," Bisons vice president/general manager Mike Buczkowski said. "We've received fantastic fan feedback of our new logo design. These new uniforms are the perfect complement to our new look and will not only energize our fans, but also make them proud of our longstanding tradition in Buffalo."

In the creation of their new uniforms, the Bisons paid special attention to popular team jerseys from the past. The use of a Scarlet Red lettering and Reflex Blue numbers on the front of the Ice White home and gray road uniforms was taken from the jerseys worn by the team in the early years of Coca-Cola Field. A "Hitting Buster" also has returned to the team's official on-field cap, a look Bisons fans have long enjoyed from those first seasons at the ballpark.

The alternate jersey pays special tribute to the team's new affiliation with the Toronto Blue Jays. The numbering on the front and back is the same style incorporated by the Herd's new parent club. The alternate jersey also will feature a bi-national patch on the sleeve displaying the American and Canadian flags together.

Designed by Russell Athletic, the Bisons' new jerseys will feature Russell's advanced air-flow management technology and stretch power technology to create a cooler, drier uniform that moves with the player to increase overall performance.

Official On-Field Caps
The team's new official New Era on-field cap for both the home and road uniforms is reflex blue with a scarlet red bill. A scarlet red Bisons' "B" is joined with the "Hitting Buster" taken from the team's new crest. The "B" and "Hitting Buster" are both outlined in white.

The alternate uniform is complemented by its own cap. This scarlet red cap includes a white front retro look made popular by the Blue Jays with the team's first-ever home cap and the Bisons' "B" in scarlet red with a reflex blue outline.

Home Uniform
The team's official home uniform is ice white and features "Bisons" across the chest. The name is written in scarlet red with a reflex blue stroke around the letters. Below "Bisons" on the left side of the player's midsection is his number in reflex blue. The Bisons' official team logo patch has been placed on the right sleeve using a lextra effect that gives the logo a three-dimensional feel. On the back, the player's name is in scarlet red with a blue outline enclosing the scarlet red number below.

The home uniform is complemented by classic white pants with no piping as well as a scarlet red belt and socks.

Road Uniform
When away from Coca-Cola Field, the Bisons again will don the classic road gray for both their jersey and pants. Across their chest, Bisons players will proudly display "Buffalo" in scarlet red with a reflex blue stroke. Like the home uniform, the road jersey will feature a reflex blue number on the front, a logo patch on the right sleeve and scarlet red name and number on the back.

The road uniform is complemented by a scarlet red belt and socks.

Alternate Uniform
Available to the team for home and road games, the Bisons' alternate uniform comes with a scarlet red top that features the team's new logo crest over the left chest. The front of the jersey also features the player's number in white, using the font made popular on the uniforms worn by the Blue Jays. A bi-national patch has been placed on the right side, proudly displaying the American and Canadian flags.

The player's name is sewn on the back of the top in white with the same Blue Jays font used for the white number below. The top is paired with white or gray pants, depending on whether the team is home or on the road.
