Braves' exhibition rosters revealed

Prospects lead future vs. present in MiLB.TV preview game
March 29, 2012
Bobby Cox will be back in the dugout, but Tuesday's all-Braves exhibition will be more about Atlanta's future than its history.

The retired Cox will skipper many of the organization's top prospects in the "Braves All-Stars vs. Future Stars Game." The April 3 event at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, Ga., will be available on MiLB.TV as a free preview. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.

Ten of the organization's Top 20 prospects, according to MLB.com's rankings, will wear Triple-A Gwinnett uniforms and represent the Futures. Chief among them: catcher Christian Bethancourt (No. 5), left-handed pitcher Sean Gilmartin (6), third baseman Joe Terdoslavich (8) and right-handed pitcher J.R. Graham (10). Gilmartin and Graham are prominent members of the Braves' 2011 Draft class.

Terdoslavich (.286 average, 20 homers, 82 RBIs) starred at Class A Advanced Lynchburg in 2011 and will be moving from first base to third base in 2012. With another big season, he could find himself a candidate to replace the retiring Chipper Jones come next spring.

In addition to Major League veterans, the All-Stars roster could feature top pitching prospects Julio Teheran (No. 1) and/or Randall Delgado (2). Teheran and Delgado remain in a battle to snatch the fifth and final slot in the Braves' big league rotation.

Tuesday night's showcase of Atlanta's finest young talent is one of three free MiLB.TV previews before Minor League Opening Day on Thursday, April 5. The first is on Saturday night at 9 p.m. ET, when fans can catch Derrick Norris, Grant Green and the Sacramento River Cats as they face the parent Oakland A's in what could be Yoenis Cespedes' first professional game in the A's backyard. On Wednesday, the Detroit Tigers visit Toledo to take on the Triple-A Mud Hens at noon ET.
