Brewers' Brock suspended 50 games

Dylan Brock, the Brewers' 34th-round pick in this year's Draft, was suspended for 50 games on Wednesday after testing positive for a banned performance-enhancing substance.

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced that Brock, a right-hander with Milwaukee's Arizona League affiliate, received a 50-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Clomiphene, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. The suspension is effective at the start of the 2014 season.

Brock, 20, went 0-1 with a 2.84 ERA in 12 2/3 innings over nine relief outings this season with the the Rookie-level AZL Brewers after being selected out of Glendale Community College. 

Clomiphene is a synthetic fertility drug that is prescribed to women to induce ovulation. It's been linked to male athletes because it helps block the effects of estrogren and promotes the natural production of testosterone.

Brock is the 55th player suspended for violating the Minor League drug program in 2013 and the second from the AZL Brewers -- lefty Will West was handed a 50-game ban on Aug. 5 for using a drug of abuse.
