Brewers Survive Late Osprey Attack

Helena, MT - With their playoff lives hanging in the balance, the Helena Brewers came up with another big win tonight, surviving a late Missoula Osprey rally to win 6-5 in the series opener at Kindrick Legion Field. Justin Bullock went six innings of two run baseball for the win, while a three run fifth inning put Helena in front for good. Helena has now won four games in a row, tying their longest winning streak this season. The Brewers with the 7-0 loss by Billings in Great Falls now stand three games back of first with five to play.  
Missoula struck for a run in the first thanks to an RBI double from Buddy Kennedy, but Helena fired right back as with one on and one out, Yeison Coca blasted a ball out of the yard to right for his third homer of the year.
The Osprey tied the game in the top of the fourth, as three straight Missoula batters reached base, capped off by an RBI single from Cesar Garcia. Yet the Brewers limited the damage, as Mike Alescio threw out Garcia stealing, and Bullock punched out David Sanchez to keep the game tied.
Still tied at two going into the bottom of the fifth, Helena retook the lead on the first pitch of the inning, as Jesus Lujano launched a ball over the right field wall for his first home run of the season, giving the Crew the 3-2 lead. The Brewers weren't done as Brice Turang tripled with one out and scored two batters later on a ground out from David Fry. Bryan Torres then singled up the middle, bringing home the third run of the inning and extending the lead to 5-2.
Bullock saved his best inning for last, as he struck out the side in order in the sixth, leaving the game with a career high nine strikeouts.
Helena added on a run in the seventh to make it a four run lead, but Missoula countered with two in the eighth, having the tying run at second with two out. Logan Gillaspie though got David Sanchez to ground out to end the inning. Missoula scored a run with one out in the ninth and had the tying run at first, but a strikeout and a ground out ended the game, giving Gillaspie his second save.
