Bulls Three-Hit Tides To Claim Trip Finale, 1-0

July 31, 2012
Norfolk, VA --- Chris Gimenez's single in the third scored the only run of the game as three Durham pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout in a 1-0 Bulls win over Norfolk on Tuesday night.

The Bulls took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd against Dana Eveland as the rally was ignited by a single to right-center by Rich Thompson. After Thompson stole second and advanced to third on a grounder by Will Rhymes. Gimenez punched a one-hopper to right field to score Thompson for the 1-0 lead.

Cesar Ramos (W, 4-3), in his second minor league start in two years, worked 5 2/3 innings, facing the minimum 12 hitters through four innings. Ramos permitted two hits and two walks before he was relieved in the sixth by Ryan Reid with two out and two aboard. Reid walked LJ Hoes before fanning Joe Mahoney to end the inning.

Frank DeLosSantos entered for the eighth, hitting two Tides before snaring a sharp one-hopper by Hoes to end the threat, then worked a perfect ninth to record his first-ever Triple-A save.

Gimenez finished with two of the Bulls' seven hits, including a double. Jesus Feliciano added a double and a single.

The Bulls are off Wednesday before returning home to the DBAP to open an eight-game homestand against the Gwinnett Braves. Chris Archer (5-8, 4.43) starts against Yohan Flande (5-7, 4.17).
