Butler earn first Double-A win

No. 3 Rockies prospect continues dominant start for Drillers

Eddie Butler gave up one hit and fanned three in five scoreless frames to pick up his first Double-A victory in four starts in Tulsa's 8-0 blanking of Arkansas. The 2012 first-round pick has allowed one run and seven hits while striking out 18 and walking two in his first 20 Double-A innings.

Pirates' No. 3 prospect Alen Hanson went 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs in the Curve's 9-7 loss to the Flying Squirrels. The shortstop upped his average to .213 in 24 games since he was called up from Class A Advanced Bradenton, where he hit .281.

Xavier Scruggs homered and tripled in Springfield's 3-2 victory over Northwest Arkansas. The Cardinals prospect is second in the Texas League with 25 homers.

D'Arby Myers extended his hitting streak to 28 games with a single in the RockHounds' 4-3 win against the Hooks. The A's prospect is hitting .338 in August after a .312 June.

Toronto's No. 3 prospect Marcus Stroman (8-4) gave up two runs on five hits and struck out eight in 5 2/3 innings to earn the victory in New Hampshire's 12-4 win over Reading. The 5-foot-9 right-hander has a 3.22 ERA and 109 strikeouts in 95 innings.

Ryan Schimpf added a pair of homers and drove in four runs for the Fisher Cats.

Ryan Brett and Curt Casali both homered and drove in three runs in Montgomery's 10-3 win over Mississippi. Casali is hitting .380 in 26 games for the Biscuits.

Nationals' No. 3 prospect A.J. Cole allowed three runs on four hits to take the loss in Harrisburg's 4-1 defeat by Erie. The 21-year-old right-hander struck out nine to bring his total to 42 in 38 1/3 Double-A innings since being promoted from Class A Advanced Potomac.
