Caravan rolling into Memphis

Former and Future 'Birds head to Memphis for Cardinals Caravan

MEMPHIS, TN - AutoZone Park will host the annual Cardinals Caravan on Sunday, January 15.

The Cardinals Caravan will take place on the club level and begin at 6:30 p.m. with former 2011 Redbirds Lance Lynn, Tyler Greene and Pete Kozma and prospect Ryan Jackson. Former Cardinals John Mabry, Alan Benes and Cal Eldred will also join the Caravan along with Cards broadcaster Rick Horton.

Greene split his 2011 season between Memphis and St. Louis, playing 66 games for the Redbirds while appearing in 58 games for the Cardinals. The career infielder batted .323 with 43 RBI and 19 stolen bases for the 'Birds while hitting .212 with 11 RBI and 11 stolen bases for the Cardinals. Kozma appeared in 112 games for the Redbirds last year, collecting 47 RBI while also making his major league debut, playing in 16 games for St. Louis with a .147 average and two runs scored.

Jackson spent the entire year with Springfield, leading the team in games played (135), hits (148), doubles (34) and walks (44). Mabry played as a Cardinal from 94-98 and again from 04-05, splitting his 2004 season between Memphis and St. Louis. Benes spent 95-01 with the Cardinals while also playing for the Redbirds in 2004 and 2006. Cal Eldred spent three seasons with the Cardinals from 2003-2005.

The Cardinals Caravan program will have first-come, first-served seating with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. The Baseball Backstop Emporium will be open until 7:30 p.m. where fans will be able to purchase a limited edition World Series t-shirt. The event is free and will feature complimentary food and soft drinks. Players will discuss the past and upcoming seasons during a question and answer session with an autograph session to follow. Due to time constraints, kids 14 and under will be receiving autographs first, followed by current Season Ticket Holders and then the rest of the attendees will be accommodated, as time permits.
