Cats, Universal Limo offer complimentary parking

Fans encouraged to donate to Red Cross Japan tsunami relief efforts
April 4, 2011
The Sacramento River Cats and their partner, Universal Limousine, will eliminate parking fees for the first four games of the River Cats season, Thursday-Sunday, April 7-10, at Raley Field. The free parking is intended to help speed access into all parking lots around Raley Field for the opening series against Tacoma. Raley Field gates will open an hour and a half prior to the start of the game for the first four home games to accommodate early fan arrival for what is expected to be another great season of River Cats baseball.

With the Bridge District Redevelopment Project in motion, fans will notice lots of construction in the area surrounding Raley Field. However, the impact for fans should be minimal since access to the ballpark is, for the most part, unchanged from last season. Plenty of parking is available, including a newly paved Lot B-1 which provides spaces for season ticket holders, suite guests and disabled patrons. Fans are asked to visit rivercats.com for current parking maps and suggested driving directions to Raley Field.

"Exciting things are happening in and around Raley Field," said Alan Ledford, River Cats President and General Manager. "We are excited to partner with Universal Limousine to provide our fans with free parking for the opening series, celebrate the start of a new season, and to encourage donations to the Red Cross."

In lieu of paying for parking, fans are encouraged to donate to the Red Cross Japan tsunami relief efforts. The American Red Cross is providing financial support to the Japanese Red Cross to assist with its multifaceted relief effort. Through Red Cross assistance, survivors are receiving food, medical care, emotional support and supplies. Red Cross volunteers will be accepting donations at two areas along the Raley Field concourse during the first four games of the season.

"We are happy to be partnering with the Sacramento River Cats and Red Cross in this unique opportunity to help those in need," said Marc Sievers, President and Owner of Universal Limousine.

Also, new this season is the expanded shuttle service for River Cats fans during Wednesday-Sunday games provided by Universal Limousine. This will allow fans an alternative transportation option from the downtown and Old Sacramento areas. Shuttle service will begin an hour and a half prior to game time and will run continuously during the game on an as needed basis. Service will conclude a half hour after the end of the game. A special $3 event round-trip fare will be collected upon boarding.
