Cespedes plates run in rehab start

Star Oakland outfielder Yoenis Cespedes went 1-for-4, driving in a run and scoring once in a rehab appearance with the Sacramento River Cats as they topped the Salt Lake Bees, 6-5, on Thursday.

Cespedes is on the disabled list with a left hand strain. If all goes as planned, he is expected to be activated by the A's on Sunday.

No. 6 A's prospect Sonny Gray (2-1) allowed a run on eight hits and two walks while striking out five over six innings to earn the win. Matt Young drilled a grand slam in the loss.

Sixth-ranked Giants prospect Francisco Peguero fell a triple short of the cycle, plating four runs and scoring twice as Fresno beat Reno, 11-5.

No. 2 San Francisco prospect Gary Brown doubled, drove in a run and scored twice as well for the Grizzlies. Brad Snyder homered and doubled for the Aces.

Charlie Blackmon fell a double short of a cycle and Lars Davis was a home run shy of the feat as Colorado Springs routed Tucson, 13-5. Blackmon finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Davis went 3-for-5 while scoring three times.

Drew Pomeranz (3-0) picked up the win for the Sky Sox, yielding just a run on three hits and two walks while striking out six over six frames. Pomeranz has a 2.82 ERA in 22 1/3 innings this year.

MLB.com's fourth-ranked overall prospect Wil Myers brought his hitting streak to nine games and belted his second homer of the year in Durham's 9-7 loss to Toledo. Myers went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. The outfielder, Tampa Bay's top prospect, is hitting .338/.440/.515 in 18 games this year for the Bulls.

Jordan Lennerton led the Mud Hens, knocking two solo homers.

Rochester shortstop Doug Bernier went a perfect 5-for-5, driving in four runs and doubling once as Rochester defeated Syracuse, 10-7. Red Wings third baseman Brian Dinkelman also went 4-for-5, hitting three doubles and scoring twice.

Joe Benson scored four times for Rochester.
