Chiefs and Red Wings suspended due to rain

Game to resume tomorrow; doubleheader Aug. 26th
June 24, 2011

Friday's game between the Syracuse Chiefs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, and the Rochester Red Wings, was suspended in the bottom of the third inning due to heavy rain with the Chiefs leading 8-1. The Chiefs and Red Wings will resume play tomorrow at 5:00, the regularly scheduled start time for tomorrow's games. Syracuse and Rochester will finish today's game and then play one of tomorrow's scheduled seven-inning doubleheader games after.

Since tomorrow had been scheduled for a doubleheader, tomorrow's scheduled second game will now be pushed back to August 26th as part of a doubleheader. Further information will be announced at a later date.

Today's scheduled fireworks display will also be made up at a later date. More information will be announced later.

Play will resume tomorrow with the Chiefs batting in the bottom of the third. Syracuse has already scored six runs in the inning and has the bases loaded with two outs and Jesus Valdez batting. Lefthander Ross Detwiler will start for the Chiefs in the continuation of the first game, while righthander Brad Meyers will start the second game.

Fans who purchased tickets for today's game can redeem their ticket stub at tomorrow's game or any other 2011 regular season home game. Season ticket holders should check the back of their ticket for the unused season ticket policy. Gates will open at 4:30 for Wednesday's doubleheader and ticketholders can use one ticket for both games.
