Chiefs Make Roster Moves Before Road Trip
Hatley returns to the Chiefs bullpen after a seven-day stint on the disabled list with a bone bruise on his right throwing hand. Before the injury last Sunday in Wisconsin, Hatley was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in three appearances. He picked up the win last Sunday in game one of the double header in Appleton and he has allowed one hit and walked two in four innings of work. Hatley is holding MWL hitters to a .091 batting average with six strikeouts. The 23-year-old California native had his 2009 Chiefs season cut short by an elbow injury in August that eventually required Tommy John surgery. He pitched seven times for the Chiefs last season going 0-0 with a 3.38 ERA while recovering from surgery and working his way back into the rotation.
Harman joins the Chiefs from Extended Spring Training in Mesa, AZ. Harman was drafted by the Cubs in the 29th round of the 2010 draft out of Clemson University and will make his pro debut with the Chiefs. He signed with the Cubs at the August 16 deadline and did participate in Instructional League last September in Mesa. Last season he helped the Clemson Tigers to the College World Series as their Friday night starter. During the CWS in Omaha, he beat #1 ranked Arizona State, defeating Quad Cities hurler Seth Blair 6-3. For the season, his junior campaign, Harman was 8-4 with a 3.79 ERA in 19 starts with 105 strikeouts in 121 innings. In 2009 he was 7-3 with a 3.95 ERA in 22 games and 13 starts for Clemson. A native of South Burlington, VT, Harman was a two-time state champion in high school, the 2007 Gatorade Player of the year and Louisville Slugger Player of the Year.
Figueroa pitched five times out of the Chiefs bullpen this season going 1-1 with a 4.05 ERA. He struck out six and walked four in 4 2/3 innings while converting one save in two chances. He picked up the win in his final outing on Saturday in game two of the double header as Greg Rohan singled home two for a 3-2 walk-off win. He threw the final 2 1/3 innings without a baserunner while striking out one. The Venezuelan native signed with the Cubs on May 17, 2007 and went 2-3 with a 3.47 ERA last season in 14 games and six starts.
Noble played in three games with two starts, going 1-for-6 with a walked. He started as the DH on Wednesday in Quad Cities, was the Chiefs starting catcher in game one Sunday and appeared as a pinch-hitter in game two. Noble began the season as Daytona's third catcher and appeared in just three games, with two starts in the first two weeks of the season. He was 2-for-8 (.250) with four strikeouts.
