Cubs top prospect Javier Baez homered, doubled and drove in three runs in his Arizona Fall League debut, but the Solar Sox fell to the Rafters, 6-5. MLB.com's No. 23 overall prospect, slugged a solo shot in the second inning and delivered a two-run double in the sixth. Kent Matthes (Rockies) rallied Salt River, going deep in the sixth, then doubling home the tying run in the eighth and scoring the go-ahead run on a triple by D-backs prospect Chris Owings. Peoria 5, Surprise 2

James Paxton, the Mariners' No. 5 prospect, allowed one hit and one walk while striking out five over three shutout innings as the Javelinas beat the Saguaros. Donald Lutz (Reds) went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and two runs scored, while Padres top prospect Rymer Liriano reached base three times and scored once for Peoria. Phoenix 4, Scottsdale 3

A's prospect Grant Green began his third AFL stint by going 2-for-3 with a two-run double, leading the Desert Dogs past the Scorpions. Selected 13th overall in the 2009 Draft, Green is back in Arizona to ease his transition to second base. Shawn Haviland (A's) allowed one hit over three shutout innings for Phoenix, while Kyle Heckathorn (Brewers) fanned two batters over two scoreless frames to earn the win.
