Curve Variety Show Headlines Revamped Baseball Bash

Winning act will receive two GA season tickets and free Curve burger for all 71 games
February 27, 2012
CURVE, Pa. - With the new season just over a month away, the Altoona Curve will be getting their fans ready with fireworks, food, and fun at the fourth-annual Baseball Bash event on Friday, March 9 at Peoples Natural Gas Field.  Baseball Bash IV will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the upper concourse/ticket plaza area and will serve as the first opportunity for fans to purchase single-game tickets to some of this season's exciting contests as well as view the first fireworks show of the year.

As part of the revamped lineup, the Curve will be hosting a Variety Show that is open to anyone looking to show off a special or unique talent.  The act is completely up to the performers and can range from a magic or comedy act to a martial arts demonstration or musical performance.  The performances are limited to a total of two minutes and must be appropriate for a general audience of all ages.

The winning act, which will be chosen by the Curve staff, will receive two General Admission season tickets for 2012 and will also get to perform their talent on the field before a game.  In addition to the season tickets, the winning act will receive vouchers good for one small Pepsi along with one Curve Burger for each of the Curve's 71 games this season.

(Prizes awarded to the winning act apply to the act as a whole and not on an individual basis.  For instance, if a group of six wins the variety show, the season tickets and Pepsi/Curve Burger prizes will be split amongst the group and not awarded individually.)

Acts that wish to participate in the variety show must register their act by 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 8 with the Curve's Community Relations Director, Elsie Gibney.   She can be reached by phone at 814.283.3130 or by e-mail at [email protected] prior to the registration deadline.  Acts that wish to participate must submit all member names along with an explanation of the act they are planning on performing during the Variety Show.

In addition to the Variety Show, the Curve will have a host of other activities set up on the weather-protected upper concourse for adults and kids.  Televisions equipped with Nintendo Wii's will be setup for fans to square off against one another in games like Wii Bowling, Wii Home Run Derby and Just Dance 3.  Steamer, Tenacious, Diesel Dawg and Al Tuna might even try their hand against some Curve fans at the popular Wii games as well.

Families will have the opportunity to get dressed up in a full Curve uniform and take family portraits in front of the Curve media backdrop for the first time at this year's Bash.  For fans wanting to try their luck, there will be an edition of "Barnyard Bingo" played at this year's Baseball Bash where Curve fans can register for squares to win Curve gear.  If the barnyard animal decides to pick your square to "plop" on, you'll win some free Curve gear.

As in years past, fans that purchase tickets at Baseball Bash (or have purchased season tickets for the upcoming season) will receive free food and drinks during the season-opening event.  Season ticket holders can also pick up their tickets beginning at Baseball Bash.   Those that attend Baseball Bash to purchase or pick up tickets will also be given one entry for a chance to win a private meet and greet (for 4 people) with Antonio Brown or James Neal.  There will be two Meet and Greet opportunities up for grabs at Baseball Bash.
The full schedule of promotions and events for the 2012 season will be released during the week leading up to Baseball Bash on March 9.  Some of the confirmed dates on the promotional calendar for the upcoming season include the Antonio Brown Appearance (April 6th) and the James Neal Appearance (August 27th).

Tickets for those games can be purchased today as part of the Black & Gold Star Pack, which includes three additional games:  the Fourth of July Fireworks night and two giveaway nights (Starling Marte Canvas Painting Giveaway on May 4 and the Gerrit Cole Fireball Giveaway on July 20).  Black & Gold Star Pack tickets start at $30 for a Grandstand seat for all five games.

Altoona opens its 14th season of baseball at 6:30 p.m. on April 5th as they welcome in the Erie SeaWolves (AA - Tigers) to Peoples Natural Gas Field.  For more information, please call 877.99.CURVE, visit www.AltoonaCurve.com or stop by the offices at Peoples Natural Gas Field during normal business hours.
