Starting the game at designated hitter, Khris Davis (MIL No. 16) was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, his second straight game with a blast. Filling in for All-Star Ryan Braun while he plays for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic, Davis raised his average to .300 in 20 Cactus League at-bats.

The 20-year-old Taveras is batting .333 with eight RBIs in eight Grapefruit League games after earning Double-A Texas League Player of the Year honors with a .321/.380/.572 line in 2012. Cardinals No. 8 prospect Matt Adams (who was the 2011 Texas League Player of the Year) added a pinch-hit solo homer for his second blast of the spring.
