Although Surprise was limited to three hits, the pitching held Salt River off the board over the final four frames. Stephen Woods Jr., Eddy Demurias and Eudrys Manon combined for six strikeouts while surrendering four walks and three hits. Brett Baty doubled, singled and walked in the Rafters' loss. MLB's No. 45 overall prospect reached safely five consecutive times in the AFL opener and extended that streak to eight straight plate appearances on Thursday before he flied out in the seventh. The Tigers' Spencer Torkelson (MLB No. 4) singled and walked twice for Salt River. More »

Twins prospect Cody Laweryson was one of the bright spots in an otherwise poor night for the Scorpions' pitching. The 22-year-old struck out six over 2 1/3 hitless innings of relief. More »
