Dellinger named Interim Director of PBUC

Veteran umpire takes over from recently departed Klemm

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Minor League Baseball® announced today that Dusty Dellinger, who has been a full-time Field Evaluator/Instructor with Professional Baseball Umpire Corp. (PBUC™) since 2008, has been appointed as its Interim Director. Dellinger fills the role previously held by Justin Klemm, who recently accepted a position with Major League Baseball as Director of Instant Replay.

"I look forward to working with the rest of the PBUC staff and the league presidents in training our umpires so that they can provide the best possible experiences for Minor League Baseball players, on-field staff and fans, while also developing candidates for positions in Major League Baseball," Dellinger said.

Prior to joining PBUC, Dellinger umpired in the New York-Penn (1997), South Atlantic (1998), Carolina (1999), Southern (2000-02), International (2003-07), and Arizona Fall (2004-05) Leagues. He also umpired part-time in the Major Leagues (2004-07) and the Puerto Rican Winter League (2002, 2006) and was selected to umpire in the first World Baseball Classic in 2006.

PBUC, a wholly owned subsidiary of MiLB™, is responsible for the training, evaluation and recommendation for promotion, retention or release of all umpires in the MiLB system throughout the United States and Canada.

Dellinger lives in China Grove, N.C., with his wife, Vanessa, son, Josh, and daughter, Grace. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Catawba (N.C.) College.
