Drive Alum, Chiang, Signs with Rangers

Former Drive outfielder Chih-Hsien Chiang was signed to a minor league deal by the Texas Rangers on Tuesday. Chiang spent the 2012 season in the Seattle Mariners organization. He split time between AA-Jackson and AAA-Tacoma, and hit .249 overall with seven homers. Chiang was signed in 2005 by the Red Sox at the age of 17 as a non-drafted free agent out of Taiwan. He remained with the Red Sox organization until the 2011 trade deadline, where we was sent to Seattle as part of a trade that sent major leaguer Erik Bedard to Boston. He spent the 2007 season with the Drive, where he played in 97 games. He posted a .262 average to go with five homers and 41 runs driven in.
