Enjoy a Taste of the Big Leagues at The Brick

April 2, 2009
The Oklahoma City RedHawks are bringing a sense of six major league ballparks to their own AT&T Bricktown Ballpark this year.

The baseball club's season-long theme, "Taste of the Big Leagues," will bring Yankee Stadium, Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, Dodger Stadium, Busch Stadium or Citizen's Bank Park to every home game this season.

"This has been a magical experience for me," said Kevin McMillan, the RedHawks' new director of brand development. "We're going to celebrate the iconic stadiums in Major League Baseball by giving our fans a sense of being at those stadiums."

One major league park will be featured at each of the Oklahoma City RedHawks' nine homestands. Two parks (Yankee Stadium and Wrigley Field) will be repeated, and the regular season will culminate with a celebration of all nine iconic ballparks on the final homestand.

Each RedHawks homestand will feature items exclusive to the ballparks being featured, with historical signage, displays, entertainment, merchandise, music and unique architectural elements.

And then there's the food.

For starters: From Yankee Stadium, Nathan's hot dogs. From Wrigley Field, Old Style beer. From Citizen's Bank Ballpark, Philly cheese steak. From Busch Stadium, toasted ravioli. From Dodger Stadium, Dodger dogs. From Fenway Park, lobster rolls.

"We're not going to have them 99 percent like or sort of like those items, but we're making them exactly what they have at those other stadiums," McMillan said.

Collectibles from the iconic ballparks will be available in the RedHawks' souvenir store on the concourse at The Brick.

"Our retail store probably is the best-kept secret in Oklahoma City," McMillan said. "We want fans to know it's out there and it's worth looking into, because there's a lot of real, real cool stuff in there."
