Fans Enjoy Evening Mingling With Zephyrs, Marlins

Ron Washington accepts 2010 Hall of Fame induction as part of night's fesitivies
January 22, 2010
Zephyrs fans and sponsors enjoyed an evening of food, cocktails and baseball talk at Rosy's Jazz Hall in Uptown on Thursday night at the team's fourth annual 'Evening With The Zephyrs' cocktail party.

Guests were treated to drinks, dinner and a panel of speakers, as well as the chance to chat one-on-one with members of the Marlins front office, past and future Zephyrs, other local stars, and of course, Boudreaux.

The event was highlighted by the induction of Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington into the New Orleans Professional Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2010. Washington thanked another of the night's guests, former World Series-winning manager Jack McKeon, for being one of his influences as a young player in the Kansas City Royals system.

As he did at last year's "Evening With The Zephyrs," McKeon thanked the fans for supporting their team while entertaining the crowd with stories from his more than 50-year baseball career.

Marlins Director of Player Development Brian Chattin was on hand to discuss the possibilities of who could be members of the 2010 Zephyrs. Chattin said there will be some familiar faces among the returning veterans, such as Gookie Dawkins and Brian Lawrence, while younger players who helped Double-A Jacksonville to the Southern League championship will also have an impact.

Logan Morrison, one of the top prospects in baseball and a resident of Slidell, also spoke of his off-season training regimen at the Marlins' spring training complex in Jupiter, Fla. While he said he hopes to make the Marlins' roster out of camp, he would be excited to play in front of family should he become a Zephyr.

Also appearing were Marlins Vice President of Player Personnel Dan Jennings, former Zephyrs Kirk Bullinger and Jake Gautreau, and New Orleans native and member of the 2009 World Series champion New York Yankees, Chad Gaudin.

The Zephyrs open the 2010 season at home on Thursday, April 8th when they face the Round Rock Express at 7:00 p.m. Ticket packages are available now by calling the Zephyrs ticket office at (504) 734-5155.
