July 2, 2009
The International League today announced that Buffalo Bisons RHP Nelson Figueroa has been selected to the league's All-Star Team. He will be joined by Bisons manager Ken Oberkfell, who was named an All-Star coach last month.

Members of the IL will take on the best of the Pacific Coast League in the Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 15 in Portland, OR.

Figueroa, 35, currently owns the 8th-best ERA in the International League at 2.61 and has been the Bisons most consistent pitcher all year. Overall, the veteran has a 3-4 record in 12 games, having allowed just 63 hits in 76.0 innings pitched. He leads the Bisons pitching staff with nine quality starts and has given up more than two runs in a start only twice all year

Figueroa was a perfect 3-0 with a 1.53ERA in five starts in June. He allowed just six total runs in 35.1 innings of work during the month. He matched a Bisons-season high by striking out nine batters in 6.2 innings of work on June 13 against Durham.
