Fort Wayne Eliminates Lake County

(Eastlake, OH) - Kyle Gaedele hit three doubles and knocked in three runs as The Fort Wayne Tincaps defeated the Lake County Captains by a final of 13-6 at Classic Park. The inning that sunk the Captains season was a six run sixth. In the inning, The Tincaps had six hits including two doubles. The big hit in the inning was a two run single by Yeison Asencio. The single made the game an 8-4 contest. From that point in the inning, Fort Wayne added a pair and the score was 10-4 after six innings.

Fort Wayne hit three homeruns in the ballgame. Lee Orr, Travis Whitmore and Yeison Asencio all connected for long balls. Kyle Gaedele had three doubles on the night and also had three RBI. Asencio ended the game with 4 RBI and Fort Wayne was 8-17 with runners in scoring position. The Tincaps will travel to Appleton, Wisconsin to take on the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in the best of five series for the Mid-West League Championship.

For the Captains, Jake Lowery hit a homerun and a double. Jose Ramirez hit a two-bagger and so did Alex Lavisky. Jose Ramirez led the team in RBI's during the post season he had seven including one in the ballgame. Jake Lowery had three runs batted in and Leonardo Castillo also had one.

RHP Cody Anderson (0-0) started the game for the Captains and did not get a decision. Coduy pitched two and two thirds innings and allowed four runs. Nick Pasquale (1-1) was saddled with the loss after pitching three innings, and allowing six runs, four earned. Danny Jimenez, Joshua Nervis, and Francisco Valera also all pitched in the ballgame.

RHP James Needy (0-0) got the nod for the Tincaps and did not get a decision. Needy allowed four earned runs in two and two thirds innings pitched. Colin Rea (1-0) got the win for the Tincaps. Rea pitched three innings and allowed just three hits. Rea pitched scoreless baseball and fanned three.
