The New York Mets today announced that they have selected the contract of Buffalo Bisons LHP Casey Fossum. To make roster room, the Mets designated RHP Nelson Figueroa for assignment.
Fossum, 31, posted a team-best 0.82ERA over his first two starts of the season. He allowed just one earned run on five hits while striking out 12 in 11.0 innings. On Friday in Syracuse, he struck out a Bisons season-high nine batters in six innings of a no-decision against the Chiefs.
Figueroa was 0-0 with a 3.00ERA in two starts with the Bisons before he had his contact selected by the Mets on Saturday. Earlier today, Figueroa allowed three runs on five hits in six innings as the Mets lost to Milwaukee, 4-2.
