Keys Belt Season-High 17 Hits in Victory
July 5, 2010
After scoring just three runs in two games against Kinston's stingy pitching staff, the Keys bats came alive on Monday night, pounding out a season-high 17 hits en route to an 11-3 victory in the series finale from Grainger Stadium.

Frederick's first hit would be an RBI-double from RF Jacob Julius in the first inning and their would be many more to come.

Leading 2-0 in the fourth inning, the Keys blew the game open with four consecutive hits to open the inning. Three runs would score in the frame and the lead was 5-0. In the seventh inning the Keys were at it again, with the first seven batters reaching in a five-run inning.

SS Pedro Florimon had a huge night with three extra base hits on the night. LF Xavier Avery, 3B Billy Rowell and C Brian Ward each had three hits as well. Rowell hit a soaring home run to center field in the eighth inning to end the scoring. It was his sixth of the year.

Keys starter Nathan Moreau spent the first few innings in fine form retiring the first eight batters he faced. He would end up going 11 and 2/3rd innings before giving up a hit in his Carolina League career. In the end, Moreau picked up his second win in as many starts going five innings for the victory.

The Keys now head home for a six-game homestand that begins Wednesday, July 7th with Fort Detrick Night at Harry Grove Stadium. The Keys take on the Potomac Nationals with first pitch at 7:00 p.m. For tickets call the Keys Box Office at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or purchase online at frederickkeys.com.
