Free ballpark trick-or-treat event Sunday!

Medlar Field hosting Central PA's safe Halloween event

The State College Spikes, Centre LifeLink EMS and B94.5 FM are teaming up to present this year's safest and most fun trick or treating event in Central PA.

A brand-new family event called Safe & Seen in the Ballpark will take place on Sunday, October 28 from 3-6 p.m. at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, the home of the Spikes. This free admission event is designed for young trick-or-treaters and their parents and will include many fun activities for children and their families.

Highlighting the event, each child is invited to wear his or her favorite Halloween costume and bring their bag or bucket to be filled by 19 different area non-profit agencies or community supporters. Each participant will be stationed in one of Medlar Field's ballpark suites. Trick-or-treaters will be invited to go "door to door" to each of the 19 suites to collect treats and other fun items.

Participating non-profit agencies and community supporters include American Cancer Society, B94.5 FM, Brady's Smile, CBICC, Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority, Centre County Historical Society, Centre County Women's Resource Center, Centre LifeLink EMS, Discovery Space of Central PA, Girls Scouts in the Heart of PA, Habitat for Humanity, House of Care, Juniata Valley Boy Scout Council, Nittany Dreamers, Relay For Life, Strawberry Fields, Thriller Thrive, TIDES and Youth Service Bureau.

In addition, children can also enjoy the following fun activities during the event:

  • Appearances by Spikes mascots Ike the Spike, the Nittany Bank Nook Monster and Bob the Baseball Dog (4-5 p.m.)
  • Centre LifeLink EMS will provide free cookies, cupcakes, chips and apple cider
  • Centre LifeLink ambulance tours
  • Free Spikes inflatable and carnival games
  • Kids arts and crafts tables
  • Live radio remote broadcast with PJ and the B94.5 Morning Zoo Crew
  • Kid-Friendly Halloween movies playing on the ballpark video board
Anyone attending the event is encouraged, but not required, to bring a non-perishable food item to be collected for the State College Food Bank.
