VIERA, Fla. --- Each month the Brevard County Manatees name a position player and a pitcher that was a top performer at their respective position. In June, those players were Jon Perrin and Elvis Rubio.
On the mound, Jon Perrin pitched in five games and started four, pitching 28 innings for the Manatees. In those 28 innings, Perrin gave up 12 runs (10 earned), averaging a strikeout per inning in June, pitching to a strikeout to walk ratio of 28:5.
Outfielder Elvis Rubio played in 23 of 27 games in the month of June, batting .265 in 83 at-bats. Rubio led the Manatees with two home runs and 10 RBI, while having four doubles and 22 overall hits. On June 29, with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Daytona Tortugas, Rubio hit two-run walk-off home run, giving the Manatees a 7-6.
