Gibbons caps big night with walk-off

Zephyrs tie game in top of ninth, only to falter in bottom half

Albuquerque outfielder Jay Gibbons drove home five runs with four hits and delivered the game-winning hit in the ninth as the Isotopes topped New Orleans 7-6 on Wednesday.

Gibbons drilled a single to right field with two out in the bottom of the ninth, scoring Chin-Lung Hu to give the 'Topes their first walk off win of the season.

Jon Link earned the win despite blowing his second consecutive save opportunity. Jay Buente took the loss for the Z's.

Hector Luna had a big day for the Zephyrs, pounding out three hits with three RBI. The Zephyrs tied the game in the top of the ninth with a pinch-hit single by Logan Morrison. Starter Rick VandenHurk pitched five innings and allowed two runs in a no-decision.

Game Notes: The Marlins promoted reliever Chris Leroux after designated Jose Veras for assignment ... A.J. Battisto joined the Zephyrs from Class AA Jacksonville ... New Orleans will also get outfielder Emilio Bonafacio from the Marlins. He is expected to join the team this weekend ... Donnie Murphy extended his hit streak to eight games, while Bryan Petersen's hit streak was snapped at seven.
