The State College Spikes continued the unveiling of their 2009 promotional schedule today with the announcement of the club’s fan giveaway schedule for the season. 14 of the Spikes’ 38 regular season home games at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park will feature a fan giveaway item.

Highlighting the roster of giveaways will be the Spikes’ unique “Going Green Series”, which will feature an item made of environmentally-friendly materials on each of the club’s five Tuesday regular season home dates. The five “Going Green Tuesday” giveaway dates are listed below.

“Because we play in the first LEED Certified ballpark in the country and because of the collaborative effort between Penn State and our ownership group in ensuring that Medlar Field at Lubrano Park was constructed and operated with conservation of energy and other resources at the forefront, we felt it was important to expand our efforts to promote the ‘green movement’ by working with our vendors to find a series of fan giveaway items made of environmentally-friendly materials,” said Jason Dambach, Spikes General Manager. “The ‘Going Green Tuesday’ giveaways are just the start for us. Our ultimate goal is for 100 percent of our fan giveaway items to be eco-friendly, and as this will soon be a reality as manufacturers continue to integrate their production processes and work toward the same goal.”

Nine other fan giveaway items will dot the Spikes’ 2009 regular season schedule, starting with a 2009 Team Schedule Magnet giveaway to the first 3,000 fans attending Opening Night, June 19 vs. Williamsport. The 7:05 p.m. game will be presented by PSECU.
